    Can't Access Second Partition

I installed an old HDD that had separated partitions and I can't access the second partition. I was reading I should assign the drive a letter in diskmgmt, but it won't let me, it's just greyed out, the only option is to delete the partition(which I don't wanna do) and I can convert the whole drive to a dynamic disk, but I don't wanna do that cause I'm not sure what it does lol.

    Thanks.

Edit: Shit, as I was trying to figure it out, I thought I'd change the drive letter of the partition I could access, it said I needed to convert it to dynamic so I thought okay, guess dynamic must not be so bad after all! Now I can view the other partition in my computer, which I couldn't before, but when I click on it it says the drive needs to be formatted before being used. Did I screw up? I really want to access this drive, so please help.

Try using a Linux Live DVD and see if both partitions show up that way.

Shit, it's irreversible? Damn you Windows! What if I used magic and made it a basic drive again? My shit, put a warning up for these things Windows! Like maybe something like,"Hey bt dubs, if you make your drive dynamic you'll have to destroy all your files. Just saiyan"

So, you charge ahead anyway -- and when that does damage -- you blame Windows???

There are a couple of free Windows partitioning apps out there that MIGHT be able to convert your Dynamic Disks back to Basic Volumes -- EasUS Partition Master and Minitool Partition Wizard. Should try them and see if they work for you.

Yeah, but jeez guys, don't be like,"in order to change this drive letter, you need to change it to a dynamic drive." No warning, just pow, you're drive's potentially ****ed. So yeah, I blame Windows, could've said in the exact same message,"warning, formatting is necessary if you do this!"

Found out the problem, I had Linux installed to that partition so it was ext4. My important files were on my other drive that I hadn't installed yet, so I went ahead and formatted it, case closed. Thanks, if it weren't for that program I wouldn't have noticed the file system was ext4.

You would have noticed if you stuck in the Linux DVD or CD and booted to the live version, and then ran from a Terminal Window "sudo fdisk -l"

Yeah sorry, I'm new to Linux. Plus I didn't have Linux reinstalled when I posted this. But thanks anyway.
