    Mouse pointer freezing/stutter on desktop?

    Hello.

Recently got a new computer, though not a new mouse, as i've used this mouse for a while now and it worked fine without any freezing/stutter on my other Windows 8.1 PC.

Anyway, the problem is very random, but from time to time the mouse pointer freezes for a split second, and comes back again working as normal. This has been happening while am on the desktop, going through my computer files, and while surfing the web.

Anyone experience anything similar? I know there was some problem in games a few years back, with freezing mouse pointers, but as this is happening on the desktop i guess this is another problem. Maybe there is something funky going on as the mouse is USB2 but is connected to a USB3 on my motherboard?

Edit: Mouse is Mionix Naos 7000.

Make sure your USB ports are not allowed to sleep or are not in power saving mode.

Could be also that whole system is stuttering for that split second. Check system and drivers, specially for video card.

The reasons why your mouse may continuously freeze is quite numerous. It could be due to a technical issue, such as low batteries, or it could be due to a connectivity issue, such as a loose or damaged cord. Worst case scenario, your mouse could be defective. Another fairly common reason why this issue occurs is due to improper, outdated or corrupt drivers. Malware/Viruses are another real possibility, and so is a corrupt Windows registry. Your problem could be the result of one or more of these issues, which is why it’s best to consider exploring all avenues.

Thanks for the replies, but this looks to be some sort of issue with certain mouses and usb3 ports. Found a post about it on asus rog forum: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...3424-Mouse-lag Turning off xHCI might solve the issue, but of course the kinda defeats the purpose of having USB3. So am currently trying the mouse in the keybot usb port on my motherboard, which i believe is a USB2 port, so far no issue, but only been a few hours.

This happens to me sometimes if I'm on the PC and automatic maintenance kicks in(it uses quite a bit of resources) that's why it should be set to a time when PC is on but you're away (shower time or dinner time) if you don't leave your computer on 24/7.

Kinda waste to use a mouse in USB3 port, even 1.1 is enough.
