Not sure how to find that, would I need it in order to retrieve my old driver? I'd rather not do a system restore. My main issue is that the bass boost in Realtek is super low quality, by the way for someone who asked

If your PC didn't come with an extra driver pack DVD like my Lenovo, just go to your manufacturers website > support > drivers, and download.

If that Realtek driver was working (even if unsatisfactory) than you do fave their codec chip. Best you can hope for is what it provides and look for another program thru which more control. I believe that Winamp for instance has equalizer thru which you can adjust tone.
Another question is, which kind of speakers are you using ? Do they have separate input to bass plug in the computer's sound output ?

It still loads the Realtek software. The driver and Realtek sound adjustment are a one in all. There is no separate driver only.

Sorry for late reply, I just woke up. Too boost the bass some more just open Windows media player to Now Playing>right click window decoration>enhancements>set equalizer and SRS Wow effects>Tru Bass... these settings are system wide and for all media.

When I go to devices, then sound, video and game controllers, I see 3 things: NVIDIA high definition audio, NVIDIA virtual audio device , and Realtek HD. So I'm not sure who my manufacturer would be...NVIDIA sound card? I'm not sure how to find the manufacturer. DXdiag only has a hardware ID

Do any of you have bass boost properly working on your PC? What audio drivers do you have installed?

NVidia has capability to send digital audio via hdmi and that's the reason it shows up on your sound devices. Not sure why headphones isn't listed (on my tablet, it is clearly listed maybe because it has an internal speaker) but you can always plug your headphones to the lime green speaker jack at the back of the computer and change the volume of the speakers in the volume mixer.

I don't use any bass boost or equalizer. I just use a headphone with bass emphasis if I want an enhanced bass or just crank up the subwoofer volume if I hook up the speakers on the headphone jack.

The NVIDIA HD audio is for when you use a digital/hidef output such as HDMI to screen/tv/home cinema/stereo, and the Realtek HD is for when you use the front/back panel analog plug jacks.....at least that's how mine works on my Lenovo.

Ok. But there's no way to find out what my original driver must have been? Are there something like default windows 8 audio drivers or something?

Device manager>sound, video and game controllers>realtek hi def audio>choose either "update driver" or "roll back driver"> if up date is chosen then "Let me pick from a list on my computer">pick one >after installation reboot....

I would try roll back first.
