Windows 8.1 keeps exiting and entering "connected standby"

This is the first time I've had a Windows tablet, and it seems to just doesn't want to stay "asleep", like every other friggin tablet out there! When I look at the event log, it just seems to randomly and frequently enter and exit connected standby. The screen comes on as if it thinks someone pressed the power button, but it's just sitting there doing nothing. And it seems to pretty much ignore the power options settings as the timing isn't consistent with it.

Any clues I can try?

Thanks!

Well, connected standby is actually "sleep" for tablets like my dell venue 11 pro. Also, keep in mind that all windows 8.1 tablets wake up from connected standby with a press from windows button. No need to press the power button for waking up. That's why I use the shutdown command to make sure that only the power button will turn on the tablet. I also don't have battery drain with shutdown and fast startup unlike connected standby.

Ok, I deleted the Windows Live account and just used a non-cloud account. That seemed to do the trick and. It doesn't turn it on an off like before.

Is there something about the Windows Live accounts that could cause this? I closed all Apps and stuff and nothing was running except Desktop, which is what I mostly used.

I want to try with a Windows Live account "off line", but I don't know how to log off Windows Live while inside the local account. Is this possible? I'm just wondering if it's waken up by some MS network activity.

I would guess that you have apps that use connected standby for push notifications and as such, they briefly turn the tablet on then resume connected standby. Signing off of the live account should turn off push notifications and eliminate waking up from connected standby on its own. This is just my thoughts and I've seen my tablet ring the Facebook notifications while it was on sleep (connected standby)

OK I finally figured it out.

The keyboard seems to make it exit standby for some reason. When it's disconnected, it doesn't seem to exit standby by itself.

The model is "Vulcan Excursion XB" for the record. It comes with it's own keyboard.

So every time I charge the device, I have to disconnect it from the keyboard otherwise it will just keep coming on and off at random intervals. So weird. As the log event is "User Input", I can only guess that maybe it does a random check and maybe the response by the attached keyboard would register as some type of wake-up.
