Well the whole reason i posted here is because even with the touch screen windows 8 doesnt want to recognize it as a touchscreen, ie swipe to scroll, automatic on screen keyboard, etc. It just prpvides the basic functionality as it wpuld with a traditional mouse and keyboard.

Doolster, I'm no expert, but I suspect that a machine built for Windows XP just can't handle a touchscreen.

What exactly do you mean by "Can't Handle"?

Monitors are designed to receive output from your computer, but a touch screen provides input. It is possible that there is just no hardware inside your computer able to receive information from a touch screen.

That's what the touch controller is for. The touch screen is not an LCD, but a layer of glass that goes over the screen. It hooks into a touch controller which then allows you to plug it in to a USB

What happens when you type the word keyboard in the start menu and run the app that shows? Does that keyboard work for your touch?

Doolster, I appreciate your explaining that to me. I had assumed that older computers simply could not operate a touchscreen.

Yes the on screen keyboard works, but win8 has a special keyboard for a touch screen that automatically comes up, if you have a touchscreen. Mine doesnt do that though.

Hey doolster, do you have another machine running Windows 8 or 7 that you can plug your eGalax device into?

It would be interesting to see if windows 7 reads the eGalax as a mouse or as touch.
