Is it possible to trick a heat sensor?

A few days ago, a strange bug occurred on my laptop; my fan started working at 100% output. Even when the temperature was 30c.

Now, that is not the problem, rather it was something I wished my computer could do.

After restarting my computer, the problem was fixed (I always put my laptop to sleep rather than shut it down).

Now, I want to find out how it bugged to repeat the process and have it work 100% or find a way to trick the heat sensor to have my fan work at 100% again. Open to suggestions about this.


Also, I don't have access to it from anywhere, neither Speedfan, nor BIOS settings.

I would look again in the BIOS Setup Menu. Perhaps under PC Health or something similar. You typically can enable a "cool and quiet" feature that manages fan speed control based on the CPU's temps. If disabled, the fan generally (and should) default to running full speed.

If cannot find it, you need to post your notebook specs.

Unlikely on a Laptop, they don't want you messing like that.

On mine there is a manufacturers Fan speed display but clicking on that just opens the Windows Control Panel Power Options. Whilst there is a manufacturers branch in the Advanced section, no Fan stuff at all, at least not directly.

The BIOS has no Fan related stuff either. So basically no options.

I would not use other fan control software, even if possible, as you may mess up.
