    Mouse conversion in 8.1?

I have a USB mouse and keyboard set, both paired to the same USB receiver, both have worked perfectly fine until I turned my computer on today. My mouse cursor moves up the screen when I move the mouse downwards and vice versa, however left and right is fine. There are no options for choosing an inversion in Control Panel, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device. It's driving me crazy! Please help.

You have to go into Mice and choose that mouse then go into the properties that will allow you to change those settings for that device.

Does the keyboard still work properly?

I would uninstall the drivers again, and do a total "cold" reboot. That is, you must make sure you remove all standby voltages running through the motherboard (including the USB ports) by unplugging the computer from the wall (or, if your PSU has one, set the master power switch on the back of the PSU to off) for a few second. Then boot up again.

I note this sure "sounds" like a setting and not a fault - but you might try another (perhaps wired) mouse just to be sure.

It would actually be of some help if we knew what mouse and keyboard brand (and model) this is - Example Logitech K350 keyboard / mouse combination or Microsoft Keyboard / mouse 6000 combination. This way we could see if there's a driver issue.

For example I have the Logitech K350 keyboard along with the Logitech Performance MX mouse which also shares a single Logitech usb mini receiver, using Logitech's SetPoint software under Windows 8.1. In my case there are no issues.

The info in this sense helps to narrow down things and look for compatibility issues and/or outdated software/drivers. It would also help to know the system specs or model of the affected PC as it could be a USB driver issue.

Even the simplest things can turn complicated without all the proper info.

    My two cents.
