I have a touchscreen laptop with a pentium quad core processor 4gb of ram and a 500gb hdd.
is this ok to play flash games and minecraft on? I'm not going to do any video rendering btw.

It is important to remember that game makers know most users don't have the budgets for monster $2000 gaming rigs. So all games - even the most demanding are coded to still provide good "game play" with much less capable hardware. The backgrounds may be less detailed, there may be fewer animated "objects" on screen simultaneously, but you can still have an enjoyable play. This is especially true of on-line games because those game makers know most users do not have a super fast fiber optic Internet connection to their homes.

For any kind of gaming I would not use a computer with anything less than 4gb ram. I think 4 is lowest amount of ram you can get by with these days.
