I know only what I have experience with. And for this, I have none. If anyone could provide me with some options that would prevent anyone from removing my SSD or HDD from my HP Envy 17 and accessing the files on another machine, I'd appreciate it. I'm sure this is simple, but I just don't know. I'm running windows 8.1 CORE, reading about some things now. Maybe I should read more before I posted here. but I'd like to know what you guys recommend.

There is nothing out there to prevent someone from accessing the drive with the correct tools.

That's not my point dude. Obviously what you said. But now that truecrypt is no longer current, what else would you recommend to keep the novice user from simply throwing my HDD's in an external casing and accessing them?

Keep them locked up in a safe when not using. Again, if someone has the right tools, they can easily break the encryption of the drive.

Why are you even on here replying to this if you're not going to help? I don't understand. Surely there's alternatives to truecrypt. I mean, seriously. I'm talking about simple protection. If you don't want to help, then go away please.

I'm not talking about preventing people from "breaking encryption". Can you read? Did you read what I said?

I read what you stated. Again, unless you physically lock either the drive and/or machine in a safe. The files can be accessed, even if you use encryption on the drive.

All it takes is a person with the right forensics tools to get to that information on the hard drive.

Apparently you CAN NOT read. I'm simply talking about an alternative to truecrypt to ensure that a regular, novice, noob user like me, can't simply take the HDD"s and put them in an external and access them. I'm not talking about total full proof protection from people with tools. Jesus Christ, just go away.

There are plenty of alternatives out there. I am beginning to wonder if you are not the one who cannot read or comprehend. If you want to go away. You just need to step away from your keyboard Hertikos, and take a deep breath. I do not know why you are getting your panties all up in a bunch about nothing.

All the info? The first thing it says on the site is that it's not safe. But I'm not looking for hardcore protection like this other dude keeps going on about. Thanks for the link.

Why would I walk away from my own question? You're the one who came here and provided no real information at all. You can't read. Asshole. GO AWAY. If you're not here to help my noob butt, don't just sit there and tell me advanced users can access my HDD's, I know that. Good for them. Has NOTHING to do with what I'm asking. How many times have I repeated myself only to get nonsense back from you? ****ing moron.
