My Bluetooth Mouse wont Pair... Heck it wont even show up!

So I had this Bluetooth mouse that I only used occasionally. After installing Windows 8, I tried turning it on only to find that it was wasn't functioning. So, naturally I thought of pairing it once more. Unfortunately, the god damn thing just wont show up! I have a feeling it's because I had that mouse as an active device when I was on Windows 7. Anyway to get this to show.

I have a feeling completely removing any traces of the mouse might get it to work again. But I don't know how to do that. I removed it from Device Manager's Bluetooth Devices' section but that didn't do the trick. Furthermore, the Mouse Settings' Bluetooth Tab still lists my mouse as a functioning device although it doesn't show up in the Control Panel's Bluetooth Device list.

PS: The Mouse has no issues. It works fine on my Friends system on Windows 8.

    Hi,

Update Bluetooth drivers to latest, and then also the mouse drivers to latest.

If this is a Razer device as your screen name alludes to, be prepared for the possibility of multiple bsods a day. Razer is good for that, for sure. Maybe you'll luck out and they've actually fixed their drivers by now instead of putting fake dates on their webpage that make it look like ancient drivers are new.

I've given up trying to use my Microsoft Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with Windows 8. It pairs one minute then disconnects the next plus as Windows 8 allows no passkey bypass (for keyboard) I can't use them anyway in my multi-boot setup unless I simply turn them off and resort to my wired ones, simply because Microsoft's own BT dongle wont cope with multiple passkeys. What a pain!

My HP wireless mouse is automatically switching off after I installed my Windows 8. Any technical solution I can get to ensure that the mouse continues working??

Same as razerq here. My bluetooth mice won't even show in Windows 8 - tried on an upgrade fom Windows 7, then tried on a clean install of Win8. Tried with my original bluetooth mouse that was sold with the laptop; tried with the pricy Touch Mouse by Microsoft that is supposed to be designed for Win8 and turns out to be as useful as a brick.
There is clearly something wrong with Win8 and bluetooth. Has anyone come up with an explaination yet?

Well is Bluetooth showing in Device Manager? (As distinct from Installed Devices) and is there only 1? Windows tends to often install drivers for all Bluetooth 'dongles' it detects and then enables the wrong one, or so I found. Mine didn't work until I disabled the Bluetooth incorporated in my SD Card reader. Then I had to install the appropriate software from Microsoft's hardware download page. The latter should have been offered by Windows Update if it was set to install for everything using Microsoft Update.

    Hi there
Yes, every possible bluetooth item in or peripheral to my laptop seems to be showing. Should I disable them all?

Well you have to be careful as some or all may belong to the one you want. It just means you have to experiment that's all. You might also want to post the issue on the Microsoft Windows 8 Hardware forum.

Thank you. I got in touch with Asus and they said that they were probably not going to come up with Windows 8 compatible drivers for my machine. I replied back saying that it was a scandal that a £1200 Windows laptop could not be upgraded to the latest version of the OS after just 4 years. I asked for an official complaints form which they gave me.

In the meantime, I have installed a trial of Bluesoleil 8 bluetooth management software and it seems to have solved the problem. However, after 30 days, I will end up paying $30 to be able to carry on using the software. Not good...

I'll have to look up that Bluesoleil stuff...anyway good luck and I agree with you regarding things becoming obsolete almost as soon as they are released, it's scandalous but unfortunately a fact of life.
