    Touch Screen

    Hi

Have just re installed windows 8 after a huge problem after the August download which completely devastated my laptop, now running ok again (gluten for punishment?) but notice that the touch screen icon still in toolbar!! is there anyway to get rid of this PERMANENTLY? I should think by now there must be, would appreciate any useful advice.

    There sure is
    1. Go to Manage --> Services and Application-->Services`.
    2. Double click on Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service.
    3. In Startup type .. .
    4. Click the small arrow and go to disabled.
    5. Click stop service.
Works for me as just removing it from taskbar properties doesn't work over reboots. Source: Permanently remove/disable Touch Keyboard in Windows 8 taskbar? - Super User

    Hey Rich,

In addition, this should permanently remove the Touch Keyboard icon from the taskbar instead. I've had it come back after a restart even with the service disabled.
