External USB

Hello all I am a person that has used a MacBook most of my adult life as a computer person, now I have gone to a PC running windows 8.1 and btw I love it, but that is neither here nor there. When my MacBook died, I realized that a MacBook is way out of my budget, so I decided to make the leap of faith to this PC now here is my dilemma, I have a 650GB HDD we just bought for the mac before the whole thing went up in smoke (the MB died) now I want to use that HDD for my external HDD for my PC but the dilemma is that the HDD is mac format, I have been searching all over the net on how to make this work but I keep running into brick walls, so please someone help me to convert this to a either Fat32 or NTFS or whatever to make this darn thing work, please help.

You would need to pay for third party software to access that hard drive. Or use Linux to pull the data off of the hard drive.

If you wish to save any data from the HD.You can try: Catacombae - HFSExplorer
Install the program to extract the data from the Mac HD.
Then use the link below to initialize the HD to NTFS, it is for Windows 7 but will work with Windows 8:
