Hello All!
I just joined this forum and it seems like a lot of friendly people are active answering questions.
My question relates to these drivers:
PCI Simple Communications Controller -(\VEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&SUBSYS_05B71028&REV_04\3&11583659&0&B0 was configured.)
SM Bus Controller -
(Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&SUBSYS_05B71028&REV_04\3&11583659&0&FB was configured.)
I've looked into where these come from and found the PCI was from Intel? Although, Intel's tool doesn't recognize that I need any updates along with Windows not automatically updating the driver.
I think some background information will be helpful for those who would like it.
I was having problems with my computer w/ BSOD's and I ran a memtest and found that my memory is running just fine. I bought Windows 8 (w/ 8.1 update included) to do a clean install and so far haven't had any BSOD's.
I'm writing down everything I do to the PC (update drivers, add drivers, install programs, etc) in a journal, as I'm nervous to run into these problems again. Slowly adding programs and devices and recording them should help.
I'd also like to know if incorrectly installing or even correctly installing updates to these drivers would cause problems like BSOD's? Obviously I would like to have all my devices and drivers up-to-date. But if you've heard of any causing problems feel free to give me a heads up!
Also, any advice on adding new drivers (printers, old dell speakers, audio mixers, external hard drives) would be most welcomed! But I can always address those issues in other threads. *First time using Windows 8 and a decently powerful desktop.
Thank you !
