I recently got an Asus X550LA and updated to Windows 8.1, since then I cannot change the brightness level. In the settings charm the brightness charm says unavailable.
I found posts similar to this, and none of the suggested solutions have not worked.
I've tried:

Or you can go into TeamViewer options -> Advance -> Scroll down to Advance network settings -> Uninstall the monitor driver

- Switching to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter
- Downgraded to another version of 10.x
- Downgraded to 9.x
- Uninstalled and re-installed the drivers
- Disable graphic driver and re-enabled
None of these solutions have worked. Is there something else I should try?

So I got it to work, it turns it TeamViewer was the culprit. Under Monitor, it was using PnP-Monitor provided by TeamViewer instead of the Generic PnP Monitor provided by Microsoft. I switched to Generic PnP Monitor by going to 'Properties -> Driver (Select Tab) -> Update Driver -> Browse my computer for driver software -> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer -> Generic PnP Monitor (Select it).Or you can go into TeamViewer options -> Advance -> Scroll down to Advance network settings -> Uninstall the monitor driver
