you should never touch Drivers from Windows update. Always get them from the manufacturer. I can't count the times when I've seen people's computer especially their WIFI losing connectivity after they update their drives from Windows updates

In Windows Update, if there are some newer drivers they'll show under "Optional Updates" but as Maximus said, often they are wrong but also just vary basic drivers only to get stuff working and nothing else like programs for adjusting their work etc.

+1000. The only thing to do for drivers offered by Windows Update is to right-click and "Hide" them so they're no longer offered, same as you do for all the Bing crap that gets offered in multiple versions the first three or four times you manually initiate Windows Update. You are doing it manually, right, and not letting it update automatically, so that you can vet each update that is to be installed, right?

All my Windows updates are set to "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them", after finding what they are supposed to update (if I haven't seen update bulletin in advance) only than I let them go trough and even than after making new System Restore point.
