Solved: Win 8.1 upgrade, Bluetooth device works??
Hello all. I am having a problem with a bluetooth device (Elm327 Mini, It allows you to talk and read data from your car via bluetooth). Heres the problem, It works in windows 7 fine, it works with windows 8 fine, it works in VMware with windows 7 on a windows 8.1 machine, but it will not work on windows 8.1 alone. It does work with an App from the microsoft store. I have updated all drivers, I have tried multiople general "bluetooth fix's" like the bluetooth support service and current version regedit trick, and etc. The Elm327 driver uses Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator, and adds two serial over bluetooth ports (1 incoming and 1 outgoing ((RDA SPP) and uses the "Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM protocol TDI)" network adapter.
Can anyone shed some light and help me fix this, or at least try to explain why it is not working?
SOLVED:
I have a Toshiba Satellite P870 laptop with a Intel Centrino 2230 wireless/Bluetooth adapter. Everything functioned fine with windows 7, and windows 8, but 8.1 was a nightmare. My fix was I found a Windows 8 Toshiba Bluetooth Stack v9.10.00T. I uninstalled the Intel Proset Bluetooth package, restarted, Installed the Toshiba Bluetooth Package, Restarted, and Everything worked fine, It added generic Toshiba drivers, and added a Bluetooth manager application. I also have a CSR Bluetooth dongle that did not work until I installed the MediaTek /W Bluesoleiv driver package. I think there is a serious bug with the windows 8.1 Bluetooth manger/interface. If you have a Toshiba laptop and/or a Intel Proset wireless/Bluetooth card then give this a shot. Three weeks of messing around is finally over!! I Hope this helps someone else too!! If not check your manufacturer for there own stack or software.
