Is Windows 8.1 compatible with Sony HDR-SR12E handycam?

Hi, can anybody please tell me whether the Sony HDR-SR12E handycam is compatible with Windows 8.1? I am trying to decide whether to buy this video camera, and it will be nearly as expensive as my computer. I have asked Sony and the Sony forum but have not received a response. To be honest, I don't know how the operating system is involved with transferring AVCHD files from the hard disk or memory cards of a handycam. I notice in file associations on my Windows 8.1 system that .mts (AVCHD) files can be associated with programs, and I have Adobe Premiere Elements 11 installed, and the user guide indicates that AVCHD files can be imported. Excuse me, I'm in unknown waters with transferring files from hard disk video cameras. Please help if you can.

    Regards, Phil

    Hi Nuccii,

Thank you for those links. The camera is listed as compatible in the list per the link that you provided, but there is a proviso at the top that compatibility can't be guaranteed if your OS has been upgraded to Windows 8 or 8.1. I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8.1 Pro, and haven't experienced any difficulties or incompatibilities otherwise.

I wonder if it will be a big gamble to buy the camera, hoping for compatibility, in view of that proviso?

The camera's auction ends tomorrow 7pm our time, about 28 hours from now and perhaps midday Thursday, West Coast USA.

    Regards, Phil

Standard procedures for these companies "just in case clause". I would say that your chances are pretty good, in any event, there are always workarounds if needed.

I know Microsoft put out a list of compatible drives for Windows To Go, and that it is only four drives long. Has anyone tested this feature on any other drives? Better yet, is there a list of features that a flash drive needs to support, such as a minimum read/write speed?
