    I have a Surface RT. I've dowloaded the Dropbox App but I want to move it from Windows 8 apps to the desktop. Anybody know how?

    You may be able to create a desktop shortcut for it manually...

    Open a Run dialog and paste:

    %windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}

    and Go.
    Click on View on the Menu Bar and choose Details, click View again and click 'Choose details...', checkmark AppUserModelID and click OK.

    Now, create a 'New' shortcut on the desktop with: explorer.exe shell:Appsfolder\ plus the ID behind the Dropbox entry exactly.

    You can 'snip' your own image as an icon and convert it to an ico image online.

    (I had hoped Mr. Brink had a tutorial for this but I can't find it. If he does, I'd be truly thankful as you would if he reveals it!)

    (Hope it works for ya on your device/OS)

    It will take me awhile to try this (I can barely program my microwave) but I really appreciate the help. I will definitely let you know what happens. Many thanks.

There are other discussions here about icons that move by themselves. Maybe the additional details I provide will help point to a solution. I have 64-bit Windows 8.1 Update 1. I divide my desktop icons into two groups. One group of icons is on the left side of my monitor and the other group...
I like W8 interface alot, but certain things don't seem to work. Like normally, you could go into the Start menu, and copy/move/edit/delete icons. But In W8, I don't see any way of doing this. The only options they give you is to pin. So the "All Programs" Menu in W8 is the Apps menu. And...

Hi All, I have this very annoying problem, relating to windows 8.1 where upon start up the icons rearrange towards the top right hand side the screen. It may happen from when I re-start the PC from standby, or if the screen saver has been activated, or even possibly upon a cold reboot. I...
Hi all, I just upgraded to Windows 8. On 7 I had the taskbar on the top (yes I use linux...) and a dock on the bottom, so I did this on Win8. However now the hand cursor doesn't appear when I move my mouse to the top of the screen - it works fine when I have the taskbar on any other side of the...
