Hello all

I'm unable to print on my Xerox WorkCentre™ PE220. Win 8 installed the driver properly and did not show any errors or red flags during and after the installation. When I print a window shows up saying error cannot print.

Does anybody have a solution?

Thanks

WG

Try this.
In Metro screen, right-click lower left corner and click All Apps.
Click Control Panel; under Hardware, view devices & printers.
Select your printer by a single left-click. In the thin upper ribbon, look for Remove Device & remove your printer. Back out to Metro.

Unplug the usb cable; turn the printer on.
Click the Desktop tile, fire up IE10, go to Xerox support and download the latest W7 drivers (if no W7, get Vista).
Click the Windows Explorer icon & navigate to "Downloads" under your name.
Right-click the driver file and extract to the downloads folder. Go into that folder, find setup.exe - DO NOT EXECUTE YET.
Right-click setup - Properties- Compatibility - choose W7 (or Vista).
Near the bottom, Run as administrator - Apply - OK out to the folder.

Now execute setup. It should prompt you when to turn on the printer (just plug the usb back in).

Good luck! And always try a test page.

Abit more info on the error - what does it actually say?
Does the print jobs get's queued up, can you access the printer queue - double clicking on printer icon at bottom right corner.
Go into Device Manager and see if there aren't any yellow exclaimation marks against the printer device.

Some printers require printer software to be installed also.

It just says error. Take a look at the screenshots. Should throw more light. The printer software has been installed.

Can you restart the Printer spooler service in services.msc. Delete waiting is not good.

Restarted it twice and tried printing. Same error. How do you delete the waiting documents? Thanks

Usually the print spooler restart does it. when you double click on the printer does it not give you a window to clear the jobs?

Have you removed software relating to it in Add/Remove (if any)?

I understand that there appears to be a working driver installed and everything should be well like that, but I'd still be inclined to install the driver from Xerox's site and reboot for good measure:

I'm certain I had the window where I could clear jobs before I installed the Xerox driver (Win 7 64). I ran the setup program with admin permissions and chose win7 as compatibility and the installation ran smooth. Now when I double click the printer it shows me a xerox scan related screen strangely. Removal of the Xerox driver and restarting also did not change it back to the normal printer queue window. Wonder what's going on. I'm gonna try and look for a complete xerox driver removal tool and post back. Please look at the images. Aem and Gman thank you for being patient and trying to help me resolve my problem.

Is that SnagIt software 3rd party? If so, I would uninstall that until issues are sorted. It may be taking part in things failing for some unknown reason. Just a thought.

Snagit is a screenshooting software.

If you can get the fully software for that printer, install it and see what happens.

The last resort is to go through registry and delete the printer install.

Removing Snagit did not help. I found that I have absolutely no problems when selecting my other printers such as pdfactory pro, snagit and Microsoft XPS document writer. They output is exactly like how it it intended. How do I delete the references from the registry?

just bout to say it, thx wildgoat

Use Advanced Add Printer for this device. I'll assume you connected over USB. You will need to disable Bidirectional on the Ports tab of printer properties to print.

Hi, re printer driver/software install. Have you tried Compatibility mode? I've had to do this with all my printers and they have installed ok and run ok. I have Brother, Canon and Epson printers of varying vintages (last 5 years models) and they seem to be running ok in Windows 8 RP. I also found this helped with my Belkin Wifi adaptor as well as that refused to operate but Win 8 compatibility mode cured this problem. Uninstal any driver you have installed and then run them through the Compatibility mode and hopefully this may cure your problem. Hope it works for you.

I have the same problem with Canon Pixima IP4500. Recently I have installed Windows 8 and Microsoft office 2013. I can't found the printer in the printing area of micorsoft office any more. In the control panel, under view devices and printers I can see the Inkjet printer icon, but I can not choose this as main printer. Anyway, I can not print anything.
A friend of mine has also a Canon and have the same problem. Canon support site and downloads doesn't help. We have both try to install windows 7 driver, but that does not help.
Can any one help us?
