    Speccy says my ram is running at 799 mhz?

    My ram is supposed to be 1600mhz... is this normal that it shows half?

    Hello diofree,

    Yes, that would be normal. You have dual channel DDR (double data rate) RAM, so it would be 799x2 for the DDR that would about equal the rated 1600 MHz.

    Actually, isn't it the fact that it's DDR (double data rate) RAM that dictates that the RAM would be 799x2=1600Mhz?

    Dual channel can provide additional bandwidth, but speed increases here are very hard to prove in the real world. Far closer to 5% than 100%.

Hi there For analysis etc CPU-Z and Speccy were excellent programs BUT on W8 they appear to FREEZE some computers so if you use these please note. Some computers run these just fine. Cheers jimbo
