Is there a way to install and use Messager?

My family communicates often through our phones messaging system. Mine is a Samsung Galaxy S4 with an app simply called Messaging. Is there a way to load that into my Dell Venue 8 Pro? Windows 8.1 RT.

What cell carrier? I have Verizon and they have a messaging app you access via their website that works for me to send/receive messages from any device with a browser. Your carrier may have something similar.

BTW, the Dell Venue 8 Pro doesn't use Win 8.1 RT, it uses the full version of Win 8.1.

Thanks strollin. Good to know what OS I am running. LOL. I thought I'd read that RT was installed. I also thought I'd read that RT included an Office 365 App. I see in my Office 365 in my Apps list. Haven't taken time to check Office out yet on the Venue. I'm obviously new to WIN 8. Appreciate the info. I also use Verizon, I'll look into the Verizon messaging app.

The Dell Venue Pro 8 comes with the Home & Student version of MS Office which includes full versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. It is NOT Office 365.

In case you're wondering why I know so much about it, I've had a Dell Venue 8 Pro 64GB model since Dec 2013.

I very much appreciate the help you are giving.

So I will ask one more question completely off topic, but I started the thread and I don't mind.

I also just received a new laptop. With it I purchased a subscription to Office 365. Hate the subscription option, but I guess I better get used to that. Anyway, so I have the option of using Office 365 on 1 tablet. Which would of course be the Venue 8 Pro. Or should I use the installed Office? If I chose to use Office 365 will I lose the ability to later use Office? You may have guessed I have not yet fully understand the distinction between the two.

About your communications needs, I wholeheartedly recommend two apps, both of which I use and recommend: Skype and Viber.

The reason I like both and recommend them is their multi platform functionality; both can be installed on Windows computers and tablets, Windows phones, Linux computers, Android devices, iOS devices (iPhones and iPads) and MacOSX devices (Mac computers). Both allow free messaging and calls between any devices (subject to data plan on mobile devices).

I'm an ex-pat living far from my family, for me both of these apps are essential. I can connect to my son on his Android phone with Skype or my niece on her Windows Phone with Viber, myself on any phone or computer.

I would stick with the version of Office that came with the Dell. The files you create in Office 365 will be compatible with the files you create on the Dell and vice versa.
