No sound and administrative tools in Win 8!

    Hello,
Few days ago I have installed Windows 8, but found that there is no sound, windows can't detect audio card. I tried to find audio drivers for my card, but they don't work in Windows 8. After that I found some ways to fix this, but these ways were not helpful. After that I found only thing that can help me... but when I was trying to fix sound problem, I found that there is no administrative tools. When I press to "administrative tools" windows gives me an error: "C:\users\public\главное меню\программы\administrative tools\ refers to location that is unavailable..."
After that I tried to find directory myself, and found it in C:\users\UserName\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative tools\, but there is no any files. What to do now?
Please, I really want to make my windows work properly, help me to fix this, please!

    Hi there.

To help, we will need two pieces of information:

    1) Are you running x86 or x64?

    2) In the device manager, right click on it and choose Properties. Then go to Details tab. Change the dropdown to say Hardware Ids. Copy and past the lines now shown below to a new post here.

In the device manager, right click on your audio line needing the driver. It may have the actual name of it in the sound section, but since you have no sound, that is unlikely.

What it likely will be is a line that says "unknown device".

After right clicking it and choosing Properties, continue on following my previous advice.

Haha an easy one. I don't have to make anything special for you.

Extract the .rar to a folder. Then in device manager, right click the same line as before.

Choose Update Driver Software. Then Browse My Computer.

    Let me pick.

    Have disk.

Now go into the extracted folder and click on the .inf file. Hit next then ok.

    Test your audio.

Enjoy! Save the file in a safe place for if/when you want to reinstall Windows.

I did this, but... I still have no sound. When I right-click on sound icon and choose Playback Devices Windows gives me an option to enable Windows Audio Service. I press Yes. And I still see: Sound window, Playback tab, and "No audio devices are installed"

After you're done installing in the device manager, it should change the audio line to say this or similar:

    "Matrox WDM Audio Device"

If you'd like, you can take a screenshot of the device manager with the sound section maximized, then attach it here. It will be easier to see what is going on, if it is necessary to.

Windows restarts and gives me something like "send error report" when I try to install driver, I can't install it.

Well, it is possible that for some weird reason unbeknownst to me, that this driver designed for previous versions of Windows will refuse to run on 8. That would be very rare though.

    Brainstorming here...I dunno....

You can try placing the .sys file included at C:\Windows\System32\drivers

Try also placing the .inf file in C:\Windows\Inf

And finally, placing the .cat file in C:\Windows\System32

Now try installing from the .inf you placed in C:\Windows\Inf using the device manager like before.

If that doesn't work, reboot to safe mode and try again to install.

If you can't boot normally for any reason at any time, just boot to safe mode and delete the files you placed (copied over) and boot normal after.
