I am making this thread for reference and am sure it will help many users.
Depending on hardware in use, while using MOTU (and perhaps others) professional audio sound interfaces, it may be necessary to use the legacy firewire driver so the audio is smooth without glitches or dropouts.
The problem? Windows 8 does not include the legacy driver like Windows 7 does.
I have posted the solution here, 4th post down:
