no keyboard for user

Hi

windows 8 pc with two users - th pc is an acer that has been upgraded to 8.1

both users can log on using the log on boxes but one user looses keyboard functionality when the start screen/desktop appears.

Tried a new keyboard to no avail.

I'm lost as to the cause as the usb wireless keyboard (microsoft) works for one of the two users.

Anyone any ideas as to the cause?

Did it come with any software? If so is the same software running under both accounts?

the twp profiles have been working perfectly up till saturday

no hardware changes or software installed

worth trying a system restore??

That's what I'd do. Was there a windows update? Sometimes they have side effects.
