Windows 8 can't print pdf files

when I try to print pdf files the print dialog box goes away but the print job just disappears. nothing comes out on the printer. no errors or anything. I have tried different printers on my network. not sure what's going on.

What are you using to print?

May be worth checking how much disk space you have free on your C: drive?

I've had things fail to print from the Reader application, and it was because I'd let my C: drive get too full; during printing, it creates a temporary file which can require a fair bit of space (into hundreds of MB), and I seem to remember that if it didn't have enough space, it just failed without reporting an error.

I have tried the embedded windows reader, also adobe reader. both do the same. click print, choose printer, (which I have several to choose from and all print fine from other apps, word, excel, etc). once I click PRINT, the print dialog goes away like it printed fine and nothing comes out of the printer.

C: drive has over 100GB of free space so it is not that.

I am using windows 8.1.

What printer and what OS, some HP printers do this on x64 flavours due to driver problems.

windows 8.1
HP officejet 8600 and HP laserjet 2055dn and a Ricoh Aficio MP C3501 full size office copier.

pdf's are the only thing that will not print. all other apps print fine.

I would give PDFXchange Editor a shot. It's free(see site for stuff about not distributing it to others etc..)
