I have a Dell inspiron 1525. I had pre windows xp and switched to ata and turned off shadowing.
when installing windows 8.1 upgrade...do i switch it back to sata and turn on shadowing?
I upgraded to windows 7 with it the way it is and its having issues.
Stealing drivers, not installing updates. Am getting a copy of windows 8.1 now.
On my desktop i am running windows 7 ultimate no prob.
Thanks

Hello Trickstar, and welcome to Eight Forums.

For better performance, it would best to use SATA.

When you say shadowing, do you mean system protection? If so, then it's up to you, but having it turned on can save you by having an available restore point to use.

...or do you mean write caching? If so, it would be recommended to enable for an OS drive.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn
