Hi everybody, I have several issues with my Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter.
My system is a Windows 8.1 x64 Enterprise with Boot Camp 5.1 running on a 2011 Macbook Pro.
Since a couple of weeks ago, this adapter has been very unstable. Usually I observe this pattern:

* This thing really freaks me out. I was born in the dogma that if I chain-reboot a computer without performing any operations, the state should always be the same. Guess it's not the case.

Since a couple of weeks ago, this adapter has been very unstable. Usually I observe this pattern:
- The device works and I'm connected to some wireless network.
- After a while the network goes into "No internet access" (with the yellow triangle in the taskbar) out of the blue.
- I try to disconnect and reconnect from the network I'm connected, or I try to disable and re-enable the wireless adapter (the result is identical).
- The device disappears from the Device Manager list, in the sense that is not there anymore. If prior to it disappearing I left a device manager window open, I see the error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10). This device does not exist." or "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)". It's like I physically unplugged it from the system, indeed I still can see it in "Hidden Devices".
- Alternatively, the device is still in the Device Manager list with the error: "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)". Sometimes, when I click "scan for hardware changes" the device disappears.
- I reboot.
- Now, sometimes I even have to reboot 2-3 times*, but after that I see the device back again in the device manager list.
- The device is either (1) shown as "Unknown Device", (2) or as a generic "Network Controller", (3) Broadcom Network adapter with the yellow triangle. In all these 3 cases, I have to re-install the drivers. I reinstall the drivers, reboot, and things go back to step 1.
Things I tried to do (with no success)
- Clean Uninstall/Reinstall the device drivers (even from the state where the adapter is working)
- Trying both Boot Camp drivers, and drivers from the manual installation list that you see via Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers in my computer.
- Clean Uninstall/Reinstall of the whole Boot Camp drivers suite
- Disabling/re-enabling the Device several times without reinstalling
Some quick facts:
- The device now and then pops in the device manager with a progressive number, something like: "Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter #2", "Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter #3" and so on. Indeed, if I show even the hidden devices, I see the old ones as disconnected, and the current one that is working as #3 or #2. Same thing as for the wireless adapter I see in Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings. Sometimes it is "Wi-Fi 2" instead of the regular "Wi-Fi". There might be a conflict somewhere I think.
- After reinstalling the device, it has no memory anymore of the visited networks, in the sense that I always have to re-enter the WiFi password. I guess this is expected.
- I remember prior to this mess I was deleting some unused networks via regedit following this procedure (method three). I suspect something might have gone horribly wrong there.
