    Using specific trackpad swipes.

Hi, so I wanted to disable the swipe from the top edge to open app controls or whatever. I could only find threads and such for turning them all off. I know how to turn off swipe gestures completely but there doesn't seem to be a way to pick and choose which swipes I want. I like the left and right swipes, I use them all the time. But I can't stand the swipe down one because my trackpad is wide, not very tall, so I end up using it on accident often. In the synaptic menu and the PC settings there's only a check box for all of them.

So curious if I need to do something in my registry, which I'm not very adept at, or if there's a menu to pick which ones are on. I'm going to have to turn them all off if I can't figure it out. Which would be a shame because the swipe from the left gesture is incredibly useful.

This may or may not help you. On my ASUS laptop there is a Smart Gestures utility that does all that. I can pick and chose which ones I want on or off. Have a look in your notifications area of your taskbar, down by the clock, for a similar utility on your laptop. If its there the settings your after may be in there.

My computers a gateway, and my driver is synaptics. I'm not too familiar with drivers to know if I can install the asus one instead and it still be functional? If that smart gestures can get me the swipes I want I'll do that. Just unsure about driver swapping like I said.

The ASUS Smart Gestures is a utility, it's installed on top of the drivers. I have no idea if it works on other laptops. For me, my touchpad works without it. I can point and click/tap but I can't two finger scroll etc. Once its installed I get extra options. I'd look for a similar utility from your laptops manufacturer.

Well from what I found that ASGU does the same functionality as the Synaptics driver I have already. I can enable two finger scroll and all that already. My only problem was wanting to use specific edge swipes. I only want the swipe from the left, and right. I don't want the swipe down. But in the PC Settings and the Synaptics settings all 3 are one checkbox.

Sounds like you are SOL then. That sucks. There may be registry entries for them but I don't know what they are.
