Could someone give me the heads up if it is still necessary to disable CMS in the bios to fully utilize a UEFI install?

I'm getting conflicting messages from what I am reading, probably because I have no idea what I am doing.

Cheers

I've turned it on and off and haven't noticed any difference. I don't think I've actually done an install with it on though. The UEFI BIOS on my ASUS laptop is pretty basic though. To me, other than a couple of extra settings, it doesn't look any different than any other BIOS I've used in the past. My laptop is the only PC I have that has UEFI.

Unless you are using secure boot, it should be on. Looking at your specs I think you need it as I do not believe your graphics cards have an UEFI VBios

Yeah, I found this out after first boot. Windows 8 (during boot)

Attention! Your crappy looser video cards just aren't up to standard.
You should be ashamed. No UEFI bios in your Graphics Cards.
You cheap human!

*sigh*

Thank you Dude, that was a big effort on your behalf, I appreciate it ;)

I was hoping for super fast boot time but as mentioned above, its reliant on Graphic Bios also

OK, mine is my laptop so the graphics would have UEFI. Every time I try reading up on this stuff I just end up with a headache.

Ha you're not wrong. Its not so much the reading but the difference of opinions and approaches. The graphics chip on my board is apparently pretty cool but I use 4 monitors so ....

I run a triple monitor setup on my desktop, but that motherboard doesn't have UEFI anyway so it's a none issue.

EDIT: lol, I just looked at your system specs, I'm running 1 Crappy GeForce GT 640 2GB DDR3.

lol yeah. they're all the rage, No SLI, no extra power needed, not much money needed either. I'll get around to spending some pathetic amount of money on some soon. Have to do something with my money, Gov will take it otherwise.

My motherboard only has the one full length PCIe slot so SLI is not an option for me anyway. I'm happy enough to be able to run 3 monitors off of the one card. I switch to a single monitor when I game anyway.
