Choosing the right BIOS

Hey guys,

i'm about to update my BIOS, but i need your help to do it. I have Msi Dragon Edition 2 GT70 2OC\2OD, and it seems that there are two different versions to download and i'm not sure which one to choose.

(I'm using windows 8)

Before I take a closer look. Just for your information. There is an update due in a few days, it is an update to Win 8.1.
I understand that you are using 8, but it would appear that there is a possibility Microsoft may be "encouraging" people to update to windows 8.1. The news has it, that to continue receiving security updates for windows, the new update (for 8.1) is needed. Meaning, 8.1 will need to be loaded before the update to 8.1 can be applied.

There isn't a definitive word on this yet.

Prior to that, for win 8, I will need to know the exact current BIOS you have.

Win8 64 - 2014-03-04: 70T / If your (current) system BIOS version is E1763IMS.70A ~ E1763IMS.70S, you can directly update BIOS to this version.

Win8 64 - 2014-03-04: 50T / If your (current) system BIOS version is E1763IMS.50A ~ E1763IMS.50S, you can directly update BIOS to this version.

Sure thats a 7 at the end?

yeah, that's straight from the "system information", that's why i'm confused

OK on further investigation, yes that old BIOS is 07.

On that page, as you have Win 8, at the top you press the red button "win8 64"

you are left with two choices, Bios version 50T & Bios version 70T

Now I am going to advise you that you flash your BIOS at your own risk. As your BIOS is currently 707, it would stand to reason that the new BIOS that you are after is version 70T

If you would prefer to wait for another opinion, I would be happy. But if I were updating. I would select 70T

That's what i thought too, also my system has "RAID" in it which happens to be the 70T. will check further into that.

You have RAID which is 70T? I don't know what that means sorry.

You mean the RAID Driver ends in 70T?

You can only have one BIOS version. I don't see any other drivers ending in 70T

what i tried to say is that i have the RAID thing in my system, and it is mentioned in the one of the BIOS updates (the RAID)
1) WIN8 Default AHCI Mode. If your system BIOS version is E1763IMS.50A ~ E1763IMS.50S, you can directly update BIOS to this version.

2)WIN8 Default RAID Mode. If your system BIOS version is E1763IMS.70A ~ E1763IMS.70S, you can directly update BIOS to this version.
