Awww! I'm not up to date! But those numbers I have are baseline GDR3 and Black firmware updates. You are up to date!

If you gander around touch and glance and all that, you'll have options to disable the Windows key vibrations and enable glace and enable double tapping of the screen to wake it up. Battery drain though, but cool nonetheless!

I once worked on a Samsung galaxy note 3. The system email app was showing -1 emails on the icon. I joked it was the NSA taking your emails to read but deep down inside, it was really because android can get faulty like that...

The 521 may be low end but it's a perfect little tablet.

    Nokia black is already in.

Android is not complex. Even I could learn it. W8P is a bit like a reduced Android.

Who needs more features and what other features could old folks like us want.

Yukk, who wants to drink the Starbucks brew. That is awful stuff.

Here+ is great. Don't knock it and you don't have to be on data. The GPS does it all. And it does not show exit numbers because in Europe we don't go by those numbers - and it is a European product after all.

The only file manager that's worth having is the Pocket File Manager for $1.99. All the freebies I tried are useless.

I am looking forward to 8.1. I need no sync functions and the startscreen colors are fine. I hope they'll come up with something useful.
There were a few times I was once actually considering picking up the 521 because it came in red, had microSD card support, and there was a promotion a while ago where it would only cost you 30 US freaking dollars. Wow! It's a nice little device for sure!

android to me seems too....over built for a smartphone OS. The fact that there is a legit power menu, very reminiscent of xp's little power menu, on certain handsets is just too weird for me. It's not proper.

I know Starbucks is meh, but that was an example!

That would explain why HERE Drive+ is like that. It's kind of weird since in the US, we go by exit numbers and it doesn't adapt to that. It would be nice if it did. Also, if the voice wouldn't cancel out the playing audio, that would be great too. I disabled it mostly because of that as well as the fact that the British lady and I called it quits...

IE improvements are what I'm looking for. It needs more speed and I don't believe it actually utilizes the SoC's GPU as much as on Windows... That and Cortana, WOW! More Start Screen colors and personalizations I'd accept, as well as a properly organized Phone Settings menu. It's becoming too overgrown I find.

We'll have to see what they send us. Colors I can care less. My tiles are mostely blue and that's OK. The phone I don't use, only VoIP. A faster IE would be welcome and Cortana I don't understand yet. I am actually happy the way it is. I hope the update will be optional so that I can wait until others report that it is safe to install.

Just downloaded the Tom and Jerry app and the Flintstones app. Used to watch that on my Nexus, but that is currently in Germany. That is my sort of TV since I don't watch TV in the US - because I hate commercials. It insults my intelligence.

Thanks for posting the numbers. Yes, it had palm peek to see the time, double tap the screen to wake, themes where I can change the basic color, lock screen options, super camera, and a whole lot more. It is very fast with quad core and 2GB RAM. Battery life on this thing is great since it's bigger. Very happy with this device. Glad I bought it.

OK, everyone, I told you I'd be here asking dumb questions. It took me 2 days to figure out how to create playlists on this thing. I really am over my head on this. Computers, I'm fine with, but these smart phones don't seem too smart to me. LOL. My question here is simple. I have an app of Here Maps. Is that the same as the Here+ everyone keeps talking about? if not, where do I find it. I did buy the Pocket File Manager.

Hi Steve, I suspected that you were emerged in the phone because I had not seen you around the last 2 days.

As to your question: HERE are the maps for when you want to look something up (pretty useless on the little screen but you can also install it on the PC) -

and HERE+ is the navigation program. If you want to use it for navigation (works extremely well), I suggest you download the maps of those states that you will be visiting. Then it operates independent from the WiFi. You can even make a new target setting without WiFi.

With MP3s you need no playlist. Just put them into a folder and when you start the first one when opened from the 'Pocket file Manager' - that you have to buy for $1.99 from the apps store. But it is the only file manager that works.

OK, Thanks Wolfgang. I'll try to figure out how to download the maps. I haven't tried that yet. But, if I have the here maps I just need the navigation program?

With the maps you can navigate without a connection. But get only those that you need because they take some time to download and some storage space. Go to Here Maps and click on the 3 little dots (...). There you find the maps. And don't uninstall any of those programs.

I also added a paragraph to my previous posting regarding playlists.

Yes, Here+ is Also Known As Here Drive +
You can get to Maps in 2 ways

    Open Here Drive + app
    Goto Settings
    Goto Map Options
    Goto Manage Maps
    Then Download New Maps
Hit the + sign at the bottom and you can search for maps there

    Or
Goto Settings tile for the phone
    Swipe to Applications
    Goto Maps
    Tap on Download Maps
    Click + sign

You can add as many maps as your device will handle, but, I would not download too many
You only need the ones for your country, beyond that is a waste of space.

From the Maps Settings for the Phone
You can delete history and check for updates there as well
You should check for Map Updates ever couple of months or so as it may not prompt you that there is a map update
and I delete my history every so often.

I have been using Waze though lately for traveling and it works.
I like the extra info it provides. There is no need to setup an account, you can just use the app without an account
But it will show you hazards and police locations if others have added it to the map in your vicinity
Here Drive + is very good though for my use as well.
But Waze is better in a lot of ways.

But, Here Drive + has a lot of info and details that are missing from Waze.
Such as, Speed limits of the road you are on,, How fast you are driving this is in settings.
Not sure but I don't think it gives Over Limit Warnings.
Which all come in very very handy also.
But you also can not clear data, like recent searches and stuff, that's annoying.

For MP3's you can do as WHS suggested, works perfectly well.
But you can create an actual Play List by adding songs to the Now Playing List and create a Play List from that.
