Hi, We have a laptop computer with Windows 7 and used to have a desktop with Windows 7 and printing/sharing worked well, wirelessly. However, our desktop was hit by lightning so we now have a new desktop with Windows 8 on it. Our printer is hooked to it. Now, the laptop with Windows 7 will no longer print wirelessly to the printer that is wired up to the desktop with Windows 8. I don't know much about Networks/Homegroups, etc. so please try and keep any instructions simple. Thanks.

Hey mate,

If you are running 8, I would recommend updating to 8.1 if you haven't yet, through the windows store (free): Update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 - Microsoft Windows

You can update any necessary drivers for your computer if need be from your computer's website, also free.

What you need to do:
To change windows network and sharing options, type Change advanced sharing options into your start search, which should pull up the options you'll need to change. Turn ON network discovery and printer and file sharing. You can also set up homegroup if you want: HomeGroup from start to finish - Microsoft Windows Help. Let me know if you still need help!

Thanks for the reply. I haven't been ignoring your reply but I haven't had a chance to try your advice yet. Family health issues, also cleaning/drying up the basement after it flooded this week.

Hey mate, no problem! I'm doing this as a service to you, not to benefit myself, so time is of no consequence for me. :D

Here is another tutorial I found that might help if the previous ones didn't: Sharing files and printers with different versions of Windows - Microsoft Windows Help

Again, take your time. Post back any questions and I'll see about getting them answered. Take care, and I hope things get better for you in the near future!
