Extreme slow rebooting speed after windows update

    Hello All,

After spending a lot of time isolating the specific update that was giving me the extremely slow reboot time, (from 5 seconds to 150 seconds after update) I was able to determine that Windows optional update -Qualcomm Atheroos Communication - Bluetooth Controller - Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0 + HS was the cause of the lag.

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same problem and might have a solution to the lag. from 5 seconds to nearly 3 minutes is a substantial lag in restarting the computer.

I'm hoping that someone might have a solution to this problem.

    The computer is a MSI GS70 229US.

    thanks for the help!

    Hi,

Always best to download drivers from manufacturers instead.

For Atheros, this is good to use though: ATHEROS Bluetooth drivers for Windows

As far as reboot time, it is special after Windows Update. It is expected to take longer usually. There is only a problem when you reboot like 3 or 4 times and the issue remains.

But ya, just update from the link. If you already have the latest they have there, check back in a few days.

    Hello Master Chief

Thank you for the link, I will be sure to update using the link and report back if that fixes the lag.

The reboot lag is permanently presented after installing the windows update for the bluetooth driver. I even went as far as doing a whole system reformat in an attempt to isolate the problem.

You're welcome. Ahhh, sorry to hear about that but at least it's solved. Ya, Windows Update is most definitely known to give dodgy drivers under lots of circumstances.

Heck, I have a motherboard or two that WU always wants to put 2008 drivers for even when I have latest from the company 2009/2010 installed already. In other cases, people get poor video drivers from WU and it causes a mess.

how about trying to set your bluetooth service to automatic delayed.

    1. + R
    2. Types "services.msc", click "ok"
    3. locate bluetooth/ bluetooth support service
4.right click "properties", under startup type "delayed automatic Start"

    Cheers,
