That is different when you use the SSD Raid0 to move a lot of large block data around. There is may make some sense.
So I shoulda seen this post before my purchase, you make sense and I unfortunately just got all excited at the speeds, but it is still stinking fast. I bought an Msi GT70 610u with dual ssd's in raid 0. My question would be that my old system was win7 with an intel 520ssd as my operating system drive. when I wanted to refresh my install, as things just deteriorate after 3-4 months. I would remove drive and do a secure erase before re installing system, is that possible with this system ? and is it beneficial ? I was advised that a secure erase kept residual programming from previous install from corrupting new installation. True or hogwash ?

As a side note from a new win8 user, I like. Can anybody recommend a guide ? MS used to make a big ass resource book but I don't believe they do anymore. Not crazy about everything wanting to go to the cloud. I believe government needs to be involved in setting some parameters of what is private and public.

Secure Erase is always a good idea. Make an image of your current OS installation (preferably with free Macrium Reflect) and restore that image after the secure erase. Make sure you don't forget to image/restore the active system partition (if any).

You can image a Raid partition, but secure erase you'll have to do individually because it is done per volume (disk).

Why do you complicate your life with a Raid. For the OS on the SSDs that buys you nothing. It is only somewhat useful when you move a lot of large block data.
