Two finger tap activates both right and left click.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15z Ultrabook which has a Synaptics Touchpad, and after Windows 8.1 Upgrade, I lost the two finger tap right click feature, which worked fine previously. There is no option for it in the Dell Touchpad Settings, and after a Registry edit (Synaptics Clickpad - Right Click not working after windows 8... - HP Support Forum - 3053281) and Synaptics driver update, I got the feature back, except this time, when I tap with two fingers, it clicks both left and right, instead of only right (all other touchpad gestures work perfectly). I also tried the Two Fingers Scroll app, but did not like it. It may not be the right category to post this into, but please help. Thanking in anticipation...

Out of curiosity, why would you prefer to have both buttons do the same function as a single button (ie right click)? It's like having 2 Shift keys, or 2 Control keys...

The way I have mine set up is:
    1. Left-click = left-click
    2. Right-click = right-click
    3. Right-click+left-click = middle-click
    4. Touch-to-click = [disabled]

What I mean by left and right click together...

No, what I mean is that when I tap with two fingers on the trackpad, it acts as if both the right click and the left click have been pressed one after another. For example if I'm using Google Chrome and do the 'Two-Finger-Tap' gesture on a hyperlink, it shows me the right-click options menu just as I want, but the webpage start opening the new link too. It starts loading as if I had left-clicked it. And that is what the problem is... Thanks for your time, and apologies for my delayed reply... Please Help!

So you are attempting to have both buttons set as a middle-click, or something similar? You just have to go to your mouse control panel for it. Your computer should have such a driver installed, and hopefully if gives the option to change buttons, and also to change gestures.

*edit - opps, I get it now. Tapping on the pad, no actual clicking.

    Yes 'Two-Finger-TAP'

What I'm trying to do is to set it such that when I TAP on the trackpad, it shows me the right-click option menu. And, no, there is no option in the Touchpad settings. I mean there are options for other gestures like 'Two-Finger-Scroll' or 'Pinch-To-Zoom' but no option for 'Two-Finger-Tap'. And although there was NO option for it before the Windows 8.1 Upgrade, on Windows 8, it worked just fine. After that, I tweaked the registry (tweak mentioned in the original question), and now this problem has occurred...

I do not recall reading about you tweaking the registry?

The only place I can think of with such options are located in that same section of mouse properties.

Make sure that you have the latest windows 8.1 drivers for your computer. I would link you to the proper site, but you haven't yet filled out your system 'specs' (bottom of your last post, click My System Specs, and select Update your System Spec).
Dell Official Site - The Power To Do More | Dell

If the computer website doesn't list a windows 8.1 driver, your manufacturer may not have released one for your particular computer model.

Try once more to look through that mouse trackpad section and see if you may have overlooked anything. I recommend against registry 'tweaks'. Check windows update to make sure you have the latest updates.

*Edit - sorry mate, I'm not paying very much attention, I'll have to work on this tomorrow when I've got some sleep

Sorry mate, but the only place I know of that has those settings is in the trackpad section of the mouse. Should be the first section of mouse properties, and you should be able to click the pad to get into it. If it absolutely doesn't work, double check that you have the right driver from Dell. Someone else my have to pop in to help, since I have reached the end of my knowledge on this subject.
