Every time I plugin a device (Memory card, Cell phone etc.) Windows 8.1 automatically opens Devices and Printers which is very annoying. I set Autoplay to "Take no action" but in vain. How can I disable this behavior?

@DustSailor: As I mentioned in the original post too, I have already disabled the AutoPlay, but it still does not help. The problem remains.

The tutorial is a little different, but still worth a try if you haven't actually looked at it. Try it, it gives the option to undo the changes if it doesn't work. Let me know if it helps or not

At the bottom of the tutorial there is a quick install method so you don't have to search through your computer so much.

Do you have windows 8.1 Pro? Cause you could see if the group policy will disable it (worth a try at least): How To Disable AutoPlay & AutoRun In Windows 8

If not, something else must be the problem

Additionally, make sure your computer is completely updated. This is in case some fix for this has been sent out

If you have windows 8 pro, then you should have Group Policy Editor also, otherwise something is off. Your windows is genuine windows, yes? If not, the numerous issues that stem from it make solving problems disastrous.

And are you saying that the specific Devices and Printers window is popping up? That is very strange... The solution for this may take some time in coming, as I cannot stay up to look for an answer. I will post back as I can. Other members are welcome to jump in as well to help with this
