I have a gateway ne series laptop and I recently had a small spill on my keyboard. Needless to say, the entire keyboard shorted and now must be replaced. Until then, I still want to be able to use my laptop using a usb keyboard. My only issue is that the 'social networking' key is constantly sending signals as if I had pressed the key. I managed to delete the social networking app but the key remapped itself to the start menu. Since doing that, I downloaded a classic start menu program so now all it does is open and close the start menu in the corner. I'd like to know if there's some way to disable the hardware keyboard or somehow have the computer stop accepting keystrokes from the broken keyboard? I have the means to disconnect the ribbon cable for the keyboard but I've been informed it'll fail the 'post-test' and not boot up if I disconnect it. Thanks for any advice.
