    Disable Keyboard With Stuck keys

I have a gateway ne series laptop and I recently had a small spill on my keyboard. Needless to say, the entire keyboard shorted and now must be replaced. Until then, I still want to be able to use my laptop using a usb keyboard. My only issue is that the 'social networking' key is constantly sending signals as if I had pressed the key. I managed to delete the social networking app but the key remapped itself to the start menu. Since doing that, I downloaded a classic start menu program so now all it does is open and close the start menu in the corner. I'd like to know if there's some way to disable the hardware keyboard or somehow have the computer stop accepting keystrokes from the broken keyboard? I have the means to disconnect the ribbon cable for the keyboard but I've been informed it'll fail the 'post-test' and not boot up if I disconnect it. Thanks for any advice.

If you can get to Control Panel and just disable laptop's keyboard (don't uninstall it) it might stay that way even after reboot.

I've tried going into the device manager and it never gives me the option to disable it. There must be some place I'm not seeing that has just a disable option without having to uninstall it.

Oooops, looks like there's no disable an an Asus laptop either (just checked on one), there's just uninstall but when you do that it shows up again when restarted. If you unplug it you'll probably get that stupid message "No keyboard present. press F1" which is completely idiotic. How to push button on something that does not exist ?
There might be a slight run around. If there's a setting in BIOS, something to like " Stop at all errors" or "Stop at all errors except keyboard" and you turn it OFF then you might be able to continue with BOOT even without that keyboard being present.
You can also try to get in the BIOS using an USB keyboard and if you succeed you can disconnect laptop's keyboard.

how to disable function keys in General Support
Hi everyone, I just switched from Mac OS to Windows 8, and one of my biggest problems have been the function keys (F1-F12). On a mac, you could have the OS features "hidden" behind Fn, which enabled me to use function keys as shortcuts when using a software or playing. With Windows 8, the OS...
