Which onscreen keyboard do you prefer?

TBH I don't really like any of them, but the only one I can tolerate is the standard keyboard layout...

I've become accustom to this one, but the others are just a click away if I need them.

However, I do occasionally use the more complete keybord if I need to do anything requiring function keys etc.

Shockingly, I prefer the onscreen keyboard in Windows 8 than using the touch cover with the Surface tablets. I don't know why that is because neither provide tactile feedback, both have the same keystroke sounds, but I guess the layout for the onscreen one is just more ideal.

All of them are HORRIBLE. I'd take the 10th best Android keyboard over the options we have for Windows 8. That's why I use my Asus T100 as a netbook way more than a tablet.

It's funny how people complain that Windows 8 is not for desktops and it's only good on touchscreen when I hate Windows 8 on a tablet and think it's great on a desktop.

Sadly, I totally agree. Android and iOS are simply lightyears ahead in terms of tablet functionality

I've had my Windows 8.1 tablet for around a week now, and I was shocked at how bad the keyboard is in desktop mode. I had a tablet with Windows 7 previously, and its on-screen keyboard was so much better! No spelling suggestions, no pop-up activation, and the way it obscures the taskbar (how are you supposed to switch between running desktop programs?!) are a few of its biggest problems, and those worked in 7.

I honestly wonder whether Windows 8/8.1 got much testing at all for tablets in desktop mode. You can't even use the touch keyboard's ctrl key to select multiple items in explorer, you have to make do with checkboxes or use the accessibility keyboard. As you guys have said, I'm hoping the makers of the various Android keyboards will eventually bring something out for us because this is hopeless (sadly, TouchPal doesn't work for me on 8.1).

On my touchscreen laptop I use the conventional keyboard, but on my Asus Vivotab Smart tablet I've tried both the onscreen keyboards available. When you're a touch-typist it's hard to type on the normal keyboard, you can use both hands with the split keyboard, I but I'm now trying to use the longhand writing which is how I composed this entry.
