Wake up the tablet using the Windows button?

Is there any way to have the tablet wake up when I press the Windows button? Pressing the power button means that I have to either lift the tablet or grope around the edges, both of which are oftentimes less convenient than pressing the front-face Windows button.

Hmmm. I just got a Toshiba Encore. It wakes up when I touch the button

The Windows button on the bezel or the power button?

My guess its not really "asleep" or it's something the OEM went way out of their way to support on that particular model.

Either way I'm glad its working for you that way. Windows does not support wake by keyboard which is basically what the bezel button is emulating, the keyboard Windows key. So, it's odd that if it is really in sleep mode, that it would wake it up.

I'm not sure that this statement is correct. While it is not clear as to which brand of Windows 8 tablet the OP owns, at least according to the Microsoft Surface website it appears that pressing the Windows key on the bezel of a Surface will wake the tablet:

There are a few ways to wake Surface:

  • Simply open your Surface Typing Cover if it’s closed.
  • Press any key on your Surface Typing Cover.
  • Press and release the power button on the top edge of Surface.
  • Press and release the Windows button at the bottom of the Surface touchscreen.

Yes, I just LOVE this system!! I've never had anything this nice, ever. It may take me a year to pay it off, but it was soooo worth it.
I just tried it on my Dell Venue Pro 8. I put it in sleep mode, then pressed the Window button on the side. It woke up to the lock screen. Good to know, because my wife has been tapping on sleep instead of shutdown, and pressing the power button to check it would boot it up if she actually did shut it down correctly. :)

My Surface also will "wake" from sleep mode when I press the Windows button below the screen. If its powered off, the Windows button does nothing.

I've tried on both a Surface Pro and an Acer Iconia W700. Neither of them wake up when the Windows button is pressed.
