    Touch Screen Not Working

My touch screen to my Aspire R7 laptop is no longer working. I got a notification about there not being enough power reaching the USB port, and it stopped working after that. I'm not connected to the internet, so it's not a bad update, but I don't know what the problem is, or how to fix it. When I go to PC Info, it says "No pen or touch input is available for this display" which I know is not true because I've been using it's touch screen the entire time I've had it.

I've read on other forums. and a common problem is that the drivers aren't updated. I don't think this is my problem as I haven't installed any updates today (I haven't been connected to the internet) and it's been working fine prior to just now.

The battery is fully charged (and was at 50% when I got the notification), so the power shouldn't be an issue.

Any help would be immensely appreciated. I just got it yesterday, brand new, so it would be really upsetting to have to send it into Acer to be repaired. Thanks.

    Specs:
    Acer Aspire R7-572
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5
    Windows 8.1

Has plugging in the AC adapter helped?

Have you tried re-seating the battery?

Some peripherals, especially on laptops, even though you might not think they are connected to USB because there is no cable coming from them to the USB ports, internally they are still connected to the USB root hub.

    Here are some suggestions.

Disconnect anything else you have on the USB ports, reboot and see if that fixes it. USB ports on laptops are notoriously underpowered and if something else connected is drawing a lot of current, it might cause an issue.

Go to your device manager under the USB root hub and find the power management tab. Disable the ability of Windows to put the USB ports to sleep. Check under each entry for the USB hubs because each one will have it's own option for this.

Go under Power options in control panel and under advanced settings disable allowing Windows to put the USB ports to sleep.

Also, you can try to remove (delete) all USB root hubs from device manager and then reboot and allow windows to re-install.

Also, is there a separate entry in device manager for the touch screen? If so is it disabled?

You can also try to do a refresh of Windows 8. Refresh without changing settings.
