    Wireless Microsoft Mouse

Hi everyone, i'm a newbie here so hi!

I wondered if anyone could help me, I just bought a Microsoft wireless mouse for my ASUS notebook as I have it connected to my tv via hdmi and wanted to be able to browse the net and control other things from my sofa rather than sitting on the floor! (as the hd cable is v short)

If Im using the mouse, how would I get the onscreen keyboard to stay onscreen so I can type? my laptop is touchscreen and the keyboard only pops up when I tap the screen.....

think I might have wasted my money!

You'll have to bear with me as I don't have a touch screen device and therefore don't use the on-screen keyboards, however do any of the following ways help?

    1) Right click on the Taskbar at the bottom of the desktop, then go to Toolbars > Touch Keyboard. That will put an icon in the Taskbar, which you can click to toggle the on-screen keyboard.

    2) From the start screen, type OSK, then click On-Screen Keyboard in the search results. This will launch an on-screen keyboard that will stay on screen until you close it.

    Thank you for the reply,

I tried the on screen keyboard which does work but when I go to type an adress in or search for something online, I have to alt+tab to switch to the onscreen keyboard, then after I have typed I have to move it out of the way to find the rest of the buttons in internet explorer.

I found the keyboard button on the toolbar but I cant see that in the "metro" version of internet explorer so would have to use the desktop version which I don't really want to use but maybe i'd have to!

Do you have any customisable buttons on your mouse? If so, is it possible to program one of the buttons (for example the middle mouse button in the scroll wheel) to open one of the on-screen keyboards? That way you can open the keyboard with the mouse button when you want to use it, then close it with the 'X' when finished (or when in Metro apps and using Touch Keyboard, use the keyboard button/icon in the bottom right of the keyboard to minimise it).

In the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre software, click the button you want to customise, then 'View all commands', then at the bottom under 'Special Commands' check 'open a program' and point it to one of the on-screen keyboards.

    Touch Keyboard:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\TabTip.exe

    On-Screen Keyboard:
    C:\Windows\System32\osk.exe
