    Second Monitor Power Controls

I've got a W8 laptop hooked up to a second monitor. I prefer to only use the second monitor, so I have the display settings set to second monitor only. Problem is that the monitor power settings I use don't seem to apply to my second monitor. It's always on when the laptop is on. I would like it to sleep when not used for 10 minutes. How do I accomplish that?

Right click on the desktop/choose Screen resolution/mount the appropriate screen on the 'Display' drop down menu/check mark box 'Make this my main display'/Apply/OK.
(set your dim/sleep timer, it will 'sleep' all displays; mouse/keyboard will 'wake' all displays.)

Thanks for your response, Edwin. I double-checked how I'd set everything up and it seems to jive with your recommendations. The second monitor is set as the main monitor and the Dell Power Plan is adjusted to dim the screen after 10 minutes and turn it off after 20 minutes. For some reason, this isn't happening. I can wait an hour, walk back in and the display is on with full brightness (this is in the plugged-in mode). Not sure that it should make a difference, but the connection to the laptop is with a USB to DVI-D input on the monitor.

In that case see if you can set USB ports power saving options.
