New Windows 8.1 tablet. Autocorrect not working?

does "Use text prediction" enable it everywhere? After continued use, I realized that the autocorrect does work in Modern apps, but not on the desktop. Maybe there's an autocorrect program for the desktop that works in Modern UI as well. That would be nice, especially if it's better than the default.

edit: As an unrelated question, is anyone else's V8P always warm on the bottom right corner (in portrait)? Mine is always a little warm there, even after being in sleep mode for hours. Is this normal? My Nexus 7 is never warm unless I play a game on it, but I'm not sure what's normal since the V8P is a ridiculous full-Windows 8 device.

I'm not sure when that text prediction feature works. I was playing with in some more yesterday, and it was kind of intermittent when using the "on screen keyboard", whether or not "use text prediction" was checked or not. I think it was working with the "touch keyboard" whether it was checked or not. The only other program I tested was Notepad, and it didn't work there.

Is yours working now with the "touch keyboard"?

I think I've noticed mine getting warm. I know for sure it was warm last night, because my wife was playing a Taipai game on it, and she said the corner was warm.

Yeah, it gets warm when using it, but it stays a little warm even in sleep mode for some unknown reason. The battery also drains quickly. It just lost over 15% in two hours. I believe it has to do with some software or maybe an update, because I was definitely not having this problem when I got it.

The keyboard issue was technically never an issue. Autocorrect works well in most apps, but in IE11 it seems intermittent. I'm going to find a desktop program to replace its functionality everywhere else. If it works in the desktop and in apps, that would be pretty cool. I'll keep looking.

Hello, I'm looking for a solution to when I want to type "→" using "ras" on my Windows 8 computer. By typing the letters "r+a+s" autocorrect changes this to a right arrow (→). I'm using my mac now to do this, which was simply done by going to System Preferences → Keyboard → Text (screenshot...
Windows 8.1 Autocorrect in General Support
Hopefully someone can help me with this. I have a laptop which is not touch screen with Windows 8.1. I am trying to find where to maintain auto correct etc., such as adding words, capitalising at start of sentences, that sort of thing. I have done just as asked by various things online but I don't...
Okay, so after a while of Googling, I finally manage to remedy this myself. I'm posting this here so that this post may hopefully turn up on Google results to save people who had the same problem as I did some time. So basically, IE11, independent of what the settings for Windows 8.1 is, will...

Autocorrect files for MS Office in Software and Apps
Hi! I have a long list of cutomized autocorrect items and they are stored in MSO files. In previous Win versions the English items were saved in MSO1033, but Win 8 saves them in MSO2057. So when I transferred to Win 8, I renamed my old MSO1033 file to MSO2057. The problem, however, is that my...
