When I upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7, my printer settings were lost. I tried using the HP software for Windows 7 to install printer, wouldn't recognize OS. HP Software fro XP, OSX, Vista and linux ran but couldn't find printer. In advanced printer setup from control panel, the printer was found after putting in the IP address and port number. After selecting the driver from Windows Update, printer was recognized, although test page appeared to be successful but didn't print. I still can't print. Any suggestions?

Netgear Router, static IP for printer?, Printer on different SSID than computer, but same router. Functions normally before and after with computers running XP, Vista, and 7.

HP Officejet Pro 8000 setup with Ethernet directly to router.

After a few hours I realized that the network was set to public and not sharing the printer. Set to private, everything worked fine.
