It includes ASUS EZ Update which can download and install bios directly from windows, it will detect automatically your motherboard's specs and give your the right bios.

An advice though, if you really don't need a bios update, don't mess with it. If things go bad when flashing the bios, it's much more difficult to fix than any software/driver update : you'll probably have to send back your motherboard.

I've done my both ways, inside/outside of windows on a laptop and desktop and never encountered a problem . The key is to follow the guidelines and instructions to the letter for updating ones BIOS.

I never had any problems either, even with an asus mobo updating in windows. That said, the risk is still there : your pc crashing during the update, or maybe losing power might brick your PC. Recent bios on brand names motherboards should all have a read only bios to fall back to in case something happens, so it's much better than a few years ago.

Still this isn't something as easy as a software update. That's why you have to consider the benefits of doing a bios update carefully, read the changelog on your manufacturer's website for each update to decide. Most of the time you only need to update when you need support for new CPUs.

I was thinking about updating the BIOS because I had a BSOD "whea uncorrectable error". And the newest update seems to increase stability.

I also have a UPS connected to my computer so if I lose power it should keep me covered.
