I recently purchased a new notebook for mainly everyday use. As ASUS for reasons that I can only imagine to get more money fron their customers. Do not supply ASUS AI Recovery or any recovery media. I can see from Diskpart there are two partitions called:
Recovery 363 MB (Recovery partition )
Restore 22.3 GB (Hidden restore partition)
I crested a Restore USB partition from Windows 8 as a portable restore drive. I have Windows 8 Pro I want to put on the notebook. They say hidden drives, which basically its a partition without a drive letter.
Am I correct in saying the Windows recovery at 16 GB isn't the same as the ASUS recovery partition but a recovery on Windows 8 should recovery all partitions if they were deleted. Or should I call ASUS Service Centre and buy a recovery CD or could I copy Recovery and Restore to a DVD-ROM. Would the Windows 8 Restore work to recover the partitions its quite a hefty recovery drive at 16GB. Or should I get ASUS AI Recovery from ASUS as a precautionary measure.
