I took a snapshot using the webcam (via the Skype app) and it created a file C:\Users\JohnDoe\Pictures\Camera Roll\The Lame Picture.png

It's been deleted for days (including the 'Camera Roll' subdirectory it rode in on).

Per recommendations elsewhere online: I've removed all the suspect live-tiles from the Start menu: Photos, Skype, Camera – and rebooted – but no way Jose. That stupid little thumbnail is still rotating through the lineup like nobodies business.

How do I clear the cash of that Photos live-tile?

Thank you!

@gcoupe

THAT! Thank you. You rock.

The only other thing is that when I took the snapshot with Skype, and being logged into the machine with a me@windows-domain.com account, a copy of the snapshot was made to the Cloud Pictures directory as well as local Pictures. You have to remove the cloud image first. So the procedure is thus:

- Delete "bad" photo from SkyDrive Pictures directory
- From RT Photos app: Charms | Settings | Options | "turn off shuffle"
- From Start page: edit and "Turn live tile off" for Photos tile
- Delete all files from this directory (.dat files & jpg thumbnails - they will be recreated) - C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\Packages\FileManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState
- Turn live-tile & shuffle back on

Easy peasy!

Thanks again.
