Solved Autoplay Stopped working ?

My autoplay has stopped working on both my sd cards and my dvd drive - this happened in win 8 - and has remained even though I have upgraded to 8.1 - I have set the autoplay settings to ask every time - but still nothing pops up ? - I don't ever remember switching it off ? - any ideas ?

Did you also double check to make sure that the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices box at the top is checked?

Yeah its all enabled - but this little tip fixed it

Since the Local Group Policy Editor is not supplied with Windows Home editions, you will need to employ regedit to achieve the same result.
Open regedit and locate the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Change: NoDriveTypeAutoRun to 0x91
If necessary create this key as a DWORD.

Autorun for USB is a safety concern, better turn it of even if you have AV installed.

No worries. This is for AutoPlay instead of AutoRun. Besides, AutoRun for USB drives has been hard coded to be disabled since Windows 7.
