Hello everyone,

I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64. I have normally used bluetooth on my HP Probook 4730s this days with my bluetooth headset. Now I have installed Office Remote Controller Add-In for Office 2013 Pro and since then I was not uble to turn on the bluetooth. I don't believe it's because of this Add-In for Office 2013, but I don't get it what could be wrong. I also can't make a system restore on any date.

When I go to PC Settings and go to Bluetooth, PC Settings just freeze or crash. I have updated bluetooth drivers and that doesn't solve the problem. Reinstalling my Windows is not an option in this moment, because I am working on a lot of projects and it will eat my time if I have to install Windows, Visual Studio, SQL Server and Office again.

What should I do?

What does Device Manager show under Bluetooth? Any yellow exclamations? What manufacturer of bluetooth, Atheros, Conexant, etc.?

I have removed Office Remote Controller Add In and it was showing me bluetooth again. After I have turned bluetooth on, I have installed ORC again and everything is working. Wierd.

Hi
I have a new ASUS R552JV i7 8gig upgraded from win 8.0 64 bit home premium to win 8.1 home prem 64 bit on 23/12/2013.
Bluetooth is now a disaster OH Goody Microsoft half baked OS again.
I can pair to and receive data from SMA solar array inverter only.
Cannot stay paired with any other type device or OS, eg tested Ad Nauseous to/ from_win 7 ASUS K53s, win 8 Samsung Galaxy phone, old non smart SE w810 phone, Google Nexus {Asus}android tablet and Desktop Win7 home prem.

All ok to each other, fail to/ from "Kate_ASUS R552JV" using Win 8.1

And I don't know if this helps but Ill share my experience with you. I had an Iomega 3.0 Bluetooth adapter and must say it worked but had problems, sometimes wouldn't reconnect I would have to pair another PC with the particular device, speakers for example, then uninstall the driver for that particular device then re-pair with that that particular device.
Bought a Kinovo 4.0 adapter and works flawlessly, I have a Bluetooth keyboard, speakers, headset, mouse, Samsung galaxy ace, all paired at the same time on generic built-in Microsoft drivers.
Cost like 20 bucks or less, highly recommend upgrading to Bluetooth 4.0.

I actually had this exact same problem when I upgraded to Windows 8.1, but I then updated to the driver you mention there, downloaded directly from the Acer website, and that solved the issue. The download was this - though it is the same as your one, so not sure it will do much good: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Bluetooth/Bluetooth_Atheros_v8.0.1.305_W81x64_A.zip?acerid=635168219883902621&Step1=ULTRA-THIN&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%20S7-391&OS=81P1&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=EMEA_27

When I upgraded to 8.1 I couldn't get a Bluetooth connection and after not being able to resolve the problem I rang Acer Support. The only driver download they could give me was one that I had already installed. They said I would need to take my laptop in for repair. They then said it was an incompatibility issues and I should roll-back to 8 if I wanted Bluetooth. I rolled-back to 8, which took hours, and I have Bluetooth on 8 but I am now hesitant about uppgrading to 8.1 again incase I have the same problem again - even though I have the latest Atheros driver downloads for Bluetooth
